1 thought on “Maia and the Xifarian Conspiracy

    1. The story is that of Maia, a young girl who, feeling the weight of her absent mother s legacy of being a traitor to her people, wants to leave home to prove herself on her own terms After finding herself selected for a peace summit involving the very people who now have control over her planet she is understandably conflicted Given little choice in the matter she sets off on the start of her journey The Xifarian world Maia enters and the personalities she meets there are well fleshed out and the [...]

    2. Loved it Maia, the protagonist is wonderful her character arc is so well built When we first meet her, she is a conflicted teen burdened by her past and eager to walk out of the shadows of her mother s alleged crimes By the time we come to the end of the book, she has grown into a confident and strong young person, than capable of navigating the dangerous path that lies ahead. The dystopian world on Tansi as well has the futuristic settlement on Xif is so vividly described that it seems real The [...]

    3. Though this book was a slow start for me, I was quickly drawn into Maia s world It appears that maybe no matter how hard she tries she is destined to follow in her mother s footsteps But maybe that is not as bad a thing as she was told growing up I enjoyed it and recommend it to anyone who liked Ender s Game I am anxious to see what comes next for Maia.

    4. At first I didn t think I was going to like this book and I was confused at what was going on I had difficulty immersing myself in the story as I like to do This book is somewhat post apocalyptic, though it doesn t really present itself as such It seems that the Xifarians are oppressing Maia s world, that they came along and took over, and that they think the people should be grateful for it While I stayed pretty much confused most of the way through the book I did come to enjoy it, and was root [...]

    5. One of the best reads in the sci fi and fantasy genre I ve read many sci fi and fantasy books and novels This is one of my favorites that I have read in a long time The main female character has your heart so involved in her story and her new experiences I could so see this becoming a major movie series The teenagers would love it

    6. After learning that her dream of attending the university would finally come true, thirteen year old Maia went on a trip to the market However, the events at the market s city completely disrupt her plans as her talents are discovered and she is taken to the planet Xif as a part of a special training opportunity Will Maia s plans to get herself expelled occur Or will she set aside her irritation to become the leader her team needs Maia and the Xifarian Conspiracy was the first real science ficti [...]

    7. Well crafted and engaging read Maia and the Xifarian Conspiracy starts right off with a mystery surrounding Maia s mother and continues to intrigue the reader throughout the entire book It has elements that will appeal to a variety of young readers while the book is high action, Basu also slows down to provide rich detail about the world in which Maia lives and the relational struggles she has My concern, as a 7th grade teacher, was that the vocabulary makes the story inaccessible to most of my [...]

    8. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review Maia comes from a planet where there is no hope You have few options and it usually is to become a slave Maia s mom is gone but is labeled a traitor Maia vows not to follow in her footsteps She spends most her days avoiding detection and hoping against odds she can go learn We follow Maia on her journey which takes a turn when she meets a gypsy boy. This was a great read It is different and the characters were all well written The au [...]

    9. I thought there were ups and downs, some parts left me confused, while others had me lost in this other world, with fear of things her mother did before she was born I loved some of the complicated relationships, though I sometimes wished that there was something deeper in a moment Ultimately, the story felt true to being 13 with questions and doubts about your future and not knowing who your mother was as a person, ad trying to figure out where you stand I enjoyed it.

    10. Unusual This may have written for youngsters but as a senior I enjoyed I must admit there were a few places I struggled to continue reading the book but I did enjoy it overall I now want to read the second book to find the end of the story The storyline is unusual but interesting and well worth reading Enjoy.

    11. Others may like itOther readers, especially Hunger Game fans may like it but it just wasn t my cup of tea Very predictable and not a lot to do with sci fi in any meaningful way Could have been an island girl comes to big city and nothing would change.

    12. GeeatThis was very interesting I had a difficult time putting it down once I started it The ending is a cliffhanger but not do much as to be frustrating or upsetting It sparks your curiosity just enough to realize it actually is one Can t wait to get the rest.

    13. Engrossing to the end At no point does this wonderful book get dull or stagnant I enjoyed it start to finish and will definitely buy the sequel

    14. Scattered Wandering Confusing It reads like what would normally be sent to the beta readers, unpolished, not a finished story I DNFed at 15%.

    15. A girl with a pastLoved this book from start to end A wonderful storyline Good catheters, friends, learning is a way to life questions, and and friends
