    1. I m surprised this book isn t better known, since it contains absolutely fascinating accounts of pioneer life that you will never find anywhere else Barry Broadfoot interviewed dozens of pioneers and children of pioneers before they passed away, and faithfully recorded their memories, in their own words.

    2. A fastinating collection of short stories from the early Pioneers of Western Canada Many of them are heart breaking, many quite humorus, all of them intreaguing as Barry captured the amazing Oral History of these hearty people while they were still around to tell it I would highly recommend this book

    3. The pioneer years is stories told by the pioneers themselves as they reflected on their life in Canada West Stories rich with humor and detail and the power of human ingenuity.
