After reading Mr Wellnitz s other work, I was instantly a fan of his style, skill, and story lines The author was gracious enough to provide me with a copy of his work for my reading pleasure and opportunity to review it Once again, I am warmed by his awesome ability to pull me into the story and hold my attention I read Finding The Way from cover to cover in one sitting, which is normally a rare occurrence for me Finding The Way is an awesome trip back in time through early America with glimpse [...]

I was plesantly surprised to find this book an easy read I very much enjoyed looking at the process of leaving europe in the early setteling of the American Land Rush days Having it told from a man s perspective was a nice chenge as well We get a chance to crawl inside Karl s head as he travels, the loses, triumphs, and finds love at last Life is what happens while we make other plans is a family motto of mine and Karl surley discovered the truth of it as he has highs and lows along the way For [...]

I found this book to very informational You rarely hear how it really was for the immigrants that first came here and got this country started I now have a better understanding of their hardships I know now that it wasn t easy for them With being of German decent and a baptized Lutheran, I found it help me to connect to my roots I know now that it wasn t easy for them I also really liked you said about about all people are bigots Depending on the circumstances every could get along, but unfortun [...]

Disclaimer I received this book as part of a first reads giveaway.Excellent story about a Prussian immigrant working his way across 19th century United States Wellnitz writes a powerful narrative of the life and tribulations confronted by many immigrants to the United States during this time and how the main character, Karl, overcomes them to achieve his dreams A great read for anyone interested in immigration during the 1800s and learning about the development of mid Western U.S.

An easy read follows Prussian born immigrant Karl Mueller to America While this is a fictional account, it does include many historically accurate facts and events that many an immigrant faced in the late 1800 s It is a great story, not just of an immigrant s dream, but also of friendship and love.

    6. This is a good book for recreational reading Once you get into the story it is hard to put down It gives you a good idea of the difficult life an immigrant had around the turn of the century all of the bad luck the poor man had didn t make life any easier.
